The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out this morning with her husband, Prince William to visit Lancaster House with President Xi and Madame Pang as they continue their official visit to the UK. Kate chose to wear an aubergine, long sleeve lace applique Dolce and Gabbana cocktail dress. Here are some pictures.
She even got the chance to meet Jackie Chan!
Some commentators are pointing out that this dress is perhaps too dressy for a morning event. And while Kate looked lovely, I agree that a cocktail dress and clutch bag are more appropriate for evening/party wear. But thanks to Kate lace has become very fashionable the past few years and it would be very stylish to wear something similar to this D&G dress at Holiday parties this season. While the Dolce and Gabbana dress that Kate wore is about $3,000 and will most likely sell out soon I have found some similar, reasonably priced cocktail dresses.
First, this Marina dress comes in Navy, so it’s not purple like Kate’s. But it has a similar silhouette and ladylike lace. It’s $99 and goes up to a size 16.
Adrianna Papell is a designer that Princess Victoria of Sweden was seen wearing only a few weeks ago. She makes very pretty evening wear but is more affordable than D&G. This dress is about $100 depending on what size you pick with sizes up to 14. It comes in a variety of colors including purple/prune. It also has a pretty bow-belted waist.
I am not sure what brand of shoes Kate is wearing but they look like they are a wine color. She loves L.K. Bennett shoes which can be pretty expensive. I think these shoes by Ivanka Trump look similar.
Or maybe these T-Strap Nine West pumps for something a little different.
