William and Kate at Bollywood Gala

For the much anticipated “Bollywood Gala”, which may be the most glamorous event during the royal tour of India, Kate wore a custom, bespoke cobalt blue gown by Jenny Packham. Packham is one of Kate’s favorite designers and she often wears her creations for evening events. According to Simon Perry of People Magazine, this gown was hand beaded in India.

Here is a video of the very first glimpse of Kate and William arriving on the red carpet.

Here is one of the best images I have seen so far of Kate’s gown. This picture is from Filmfare’s twitter page. I really like this gown. This color suits Kate, the designer is appropriately British in keeping with Kate’s role as a representative of the British fashion industry, yet the gown is also inspired by Indian fashion which is what I was hoping for. The beading is lovely and it is appropriately modest. I also like that Kate has her hair styled up and away from her face.

Here is a close-up of Kate so you can see her earrings. According to Daily Mail journalist Rebecca English they were designed by Indian jewelry designer, Amrapali.

It seems that Kate is holding a clutch bag that was probably beaded and designed to match the dress. So I am going to say that it was probably designed by Jenny Packham as well although I don’t know that for sure yet.

I cannot find the same exact earrings that Kate is wearing. They may not be available anymore. But just to get an idea of what this jewelry designer is like here is a similar pair by Amrapali. Even though this particular pair of earrings is on sale they still cost a pretty penny.

See the collection here:

William and Kate got to meet some really famous Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit, among others. Many of these actresses were wearing fabulous gowns as well. Unfortunately, the venue seems to have some lighting issues. Maybe it is just in the pictures I am seeing so far but the pictures have a strange red glow to them. Even the pictures of Kate on the red carpet were overly lit with camera flashes that seemed to be blinding William and Kate. I hope we get better pictures soon, but here are a few that I have found so far.

The people in the middle of this photo are Aishwarya Rai and Sharukh Khan, two of the biggest stars in India. This picture is a perfect example of that weird pinkish red glow that I was talking about. I hope that the lighting didn’t ruin all of the photos.

The best pictures so far are of William and Kate from Getty images. So here are a few more!

The reception took place at the same hotel that William and Kate are staying at tonight. Here are a few pictures from the hotel’s twitter page that show what some of the decorations were like for tonight’s event. I always think it’s neat to see these details.

And if you are curious about Jenny Packham, Kate’s go-to designer, here is a similar gown by Packham.

You can find this gown and others like it from Packham’s collection here:

Will and Kate Arrive in India

It has begun! Today is the first day of William and Kate’s tour of India, and we have already seen Kate model two different outfits. So let’s take a quick look, shall we?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Mumbai today, April 10, 2016. This is the first royal tour for the couple in two years. They were welcomed at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel where they laid a wreath in memorial for the victims of a terrorist attack on the hotel in 2008. All pictures in this blog post are courtesy of the Daily Mail.

The couple arrived 20 minutes ahead of schedule on a British Airways flight from London with part of the 11-strong entourage that will accompany them on their seven-day trip to India and Bhutan plus a large security detail. They are pictured arriving at the Taj Palace hotel

A picture of the wreath they placed in memorial at the hotel.

Kate arrived at the hotel wearing a lovely bespoke Alexander McQueen dress. I thought it was appropriate for her to wear McQueen, one of the most famous British fashion designers, to represent the UK fashion industry as her first big outfit for the tour. Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen was also the designer behind Kate’s wedding gown. I am not sure if red is considered an appropriate color for laying a memorial wreath in India, but they most likely have different standards about that than we do where I am from in the U.S.

Plenty of thought: The Duchess blended Indian colour with British couture as she chose an Alexander McQueen dress for her arrival

The Duke and Duchess have left their children, Prince George, two, and 11-month-old Princess Charlotte, behind in the UK

Warm welcome: Kate is expected to showcase a number of Indian designers with her choice of outfits during the couple’s tour, but she played it safe with one of her favourite fashion houses for the country’s first sight of her. Locals gave the couple an enthusiastic welcome

Kate also wore her Temple of Heaven earrings, which she wore a few days ago to a reception at Kensington palace for young people from India and Bhutan. Here is a picture of her wearing the earrings today.

She also wore £1,495 earrings by Temple of Heaven

And here is a picture of her wearing the earrings at the reception.

Kate wore Gianvito Rossi patent-leather pumps with her McQueen dress.

Kate wore a pair of Gianvito Rossi courts (pictured), with a pointed toe, costing £445

Here is a similar pair from Gianvito Rossi:

Kate finished the look with a Russel and Bromley clutch.

Theme: Kate wore a red, paisley-themed outfit with a shirt split at the front over a black underskirt, borrowed heavily from Asian tradition

After arriving at the hotel, the royal couple had a quick outfit change before visiting the Oval Maiden in Mumbai, where they watched children play in a cricket match.

Looking relaxed: After leaving their hotel, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed to Mumbai's Oval Maidan, a Grade 1 recreation ground in the south of the city for a game of cricket with some of the city’s many thousands of street children

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

First of all, I really like the dress that Kate wore. I think it is pretty and colorful. I like the shades of pink/raspberry and light blue. But it looks really, really hot in Mumbai so I think it would have been appropriate for Kate to put her hair up before watching the match. As a woman with hair longer than Kate’s that’s the first thing I would have done. Plus, if Kate had pulled her hair back we could get a better look at the earrings she wore which were definitely not the Temple of Heaven earrings she wore with the McQueen dress.

Quick swap: Kate changed out of the Alexander McQueen dress she was wearing earlier in the day and into a more summery, relaxing outfit

This dress is a bespoke piece by Anita Dongre, an Indian designer from West Mumbai. According to Anita’s twitter, this piece is a Mughal inspired tunic. This is what the tunic originally looked like during Lakme fashion week, but as the piece is bespoke it was reworked a bit to suit Kate’s taste and needs. Specifically, Kate’s version appears to be considerably shorter.

The blogger “What Kate Wore” thinks that Kate may be wearing Mint Velvet shoes. I am not sure how practical wedge heels are to watch a cricket match but Kate famously ran on a beach in Australia in wedges so she must be steadier on her feet in heels than I am! 😀

My goodness, Kate didn’t just watch a cricket match, she played with kids through an obstacle course while wearing a dress and wedge heels. I would probably break my ankle if I tried this!!!

Kate is known for being really sporty, though. So maybe it doesn’t bother her? Looks uncomfortable to me, but she seems to be enjoying herself! It’s nice to see her happy. She always seems happiest when she is playing sports. See more pictures from the Telegraph here.

Watch this space for more updates on William and Kate’s tour! Tonight, the Cambridges will attend a Bollywood star studded gala where Kate will wear a formal evening gown and I will be sure to write a post about that, so stay tuned and follow My Frugal Lady on Facebook!

How to Dress Like a Princess for Prom for $100

Prom season is almost upon us, which means many young ladies will be searching for the perfect prom dress. Unfortunately, I never went to a prom myself. But if I had I would have probably looked to European royal ladies for inspiration. I think we all would like to look like a princess for a day, but most of us do not necessarily have a royal budget. So here are some of my favorite royal ladies wearing their best gowns along with a guide for where to find similar gowns for much less. Whether you are going to a prom, a formal wedding, or a romantic date every woman deserves to look and feel like a princess. 🙂

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

By now, most people who follow the British royal family will be familiar with Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge’s love of lace. This Alice Temperley black lace overlay dress has been one of her favorites for years. Here she is wearing the gown at the Natural History Museum in London in December of 2013.

And here is a close-up of the lace details on her dress.

This particular Temperley gown is no longer available although when it was available it probably sold for about $8,000-$9,000. However, I have found a gorgeous lookalike dress by Miusol for under $100. It comes in sizes small to 3X and you could get the black version that looks exactly like Kate’s or a red version for something a little different. It also has amazing reviews.

Miusol Women’s Floral Lace 2/3 Sleeves Long Bridesmaid Maxi Dress, Black, Large

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands

On April 30, 2013, Crown Princess Maxima became Queen Consort Maxima of the Netherlands when her husband, Willem-Alexander, was inaugurated as king. For King Willem-Alexander’s inauguration, Maxima wore a gorgeous cobalt blue gown and matching cape by Dutch designer Jan Taminiau.

Here is a look at the gown without the cape.

I love this color and the lace overlay detailing of the bodice and sleeves. Maxima’s gown was custom made for her, so there is no way to really put a price tag on it. But this pretty gown looks similar to Maxima’s iconic inauguration gown and it is under $100.

Sizes 2 through 16 can be found via this link:

Crown Princess Victoria

Princess Victoria of Sweden is one of my favorite royal ladies. I think she is going to be an amazing queen. I also think she is very fashionable. I think this look is one of Victoria’s best. She is wearing a gown by Pronovias and a hair accessory by Jenny Packham, one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite designers. The gown is an unusual color, it can appear teal or green depending on the lighting in the photo.

But I especially like the lace detailing on the neckline of this gown. It makes the sweetheart neckline seem a little more modest but still youthful.

And the hair accessory is so great. It looks regal, but not as formal as a tiara.

Here is a pretty green lookalike gown for under $100. I think it’s very elegant.

Find it here for under $100 in sizes up to a 16. It has multiple color options as well.

Ever Pretty Womens Empire Waist Open Back Formal Black Tie Dress 16 US Green

If you would like to wear a pretty hair comb to accessorize I like this one at Nordstrom.

Find it here:

Princess Madeleine of Sweden

Princess Madeleine, who happens to be Victoria’s little sister, has also worn some pretty amazing gowns. I guess style must run in the family, and it helps that she is married to a billionaire. 😉 Here is Madeleine wearing a gorgeous Elie Saab gown. It has a retro 1940s feel with some amazing beaded work throughout the gown. This is a couture piece and probably cost about $8,000-$10,000.

Princess Madeleine

When it comes to reasonably priced beaded gowns, I think that Adrianna Papell is the best way to go. This beautiful gown is on sale right now. It goes up to a size 14.

Find it here:

And this Adrianna Papell gown looks a lot like Madeleine’s gown as well. It is also on sale and is available up to size 14.

Find it here:

Princess Beatrice of York

Some ladies may prefer wearing a shorter dress for a school dance. I personally love this gorgeous Nicholas Oakwell couture white organza dress that Princess Beatrice wore to a Serpentine Gallery party. It has a lovely princess-y 1950s vibe. If you have ever watched West Side Story, you’ll know that Natalie Wood’s character, Maria, originally objected to wearing a white dress to a dance. But when she realized that probably no one else would be wearing white, she changed her mind because she knew that she would be the only one in a white dress so she would stand out more. So maybe white would be the right way to go if you want to make a bit of a fashion statement?

I also like the way that Beatrice styled her makeup with this dress. The red lipstick with subtle eye makeup completes the retro look.

Here is a pretty dress from ASOS that reminds me of Beatrice’s. It’s only $114 and is available in limited sizes.

Find it here:

The same company also makes some pretty dresses in plus sizes. This dress is similar to Beatrice’s and it is available up to a size 20.

Find it for $116 here:

Princess Sofia of Sweden

Next, we have Princess Sofia of Sweden. Like Kate Middleton, Sofia was also born a commoner. She was lucky enough to find an Orlando Bloom lookalike who just so happened to be a prince. 🙂 She marred Prince Carl-Phillip last year. Carl-Phillip and Sofia are expecting their first baby any day now.

I like the raspberry color of this gown that Sofia wore at the Nobel Peace Prize banquet in 2014.

I think that this lace dress from Modcloth is a similar color. Very feminine.

It is available in sizes 2-10 here:

The same company makes a similar dress in a 3/4 sleeve version available in sizes 8-20.

It is available on sale for $87 here:

Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Speaking of Princess Sofia, at Sofia’s wedding to Carl-Phillip last year two very fashionable royal women showed up to the wedding ceremony wearing the same color. This pretty, icy light blue was also worn by the Queen Mother and Princess Diana on multiple occasions. Maybe because it photographs well? Or maybe it is because this is the color that Cinderella is associated with? Whatever the case, this color seems to be universally flattering on ladies with various hair colors and skin tones.

This dress comes in a ‘sky blue’ color that is reminiscent of the gowns that both Mathilde and Mary wore to Sofia’s wedding last year. It comes in sizes 2-18.

Find it here on sale for $89:

Wonder Woman’s Perfume

She may not be a princess in real life, but Israeli actress Gal Gadot is portraying the most famous Amazonian goddess warrior princess of all time: Wonder Woman aka Princess Diana of Themyscira. To say I am excited is an understatement. I am a big Superman fan and even named both of my dogs in honor of the Superman comic books, but we have had numerous Superman movies AND Batman movies but no Wonder Woman film even though the Wonder Woman TV series in the 70s was really popular and Wonder Woman is one of the three most important founding members of the Justice League. I personally feel that is pretty unfair and we ladies are long overdue for a Wonder Woman film.

Picture from Gal Gadot’s social media, a sneak peak of Wonder Woman in her stand alone film which will premiere in 2017.

Wonder Woman is making her big screen debut today in Batman Vs Superman before she gets her very own stand alone film next year. (I have not been able to see B vs S yet, so please no spoilers in the comments section!) So, in honor of this major moment of cinematic history I would like to write a short blog post dedicated to the favorite perfume of the actress behind Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot’s fashion is not very well known just yet although I am sure we will see more of it now that she will be walking so many red carpets. However, I did manage to discover this short little interview on Youtube. In it, Gal divulges that her signature scent is Gucci Bamboo. I thought it was really great that she did not hesitate to name her favorite perfume since many women (especially women in the public eye) tend to be more tight lipped about what their favorite perfume is. But because I love perfume and write about it often, I decided to look up Gal’s favorite perfume.

Gucci Bamboo’s notes are official described as “Top notes of bergamot. Heart notes of casablanca lily and ylang ylang extra-comoros. Base notes of sandalwood.” I love Gucci purses with their signature bamboo handles, and this perfume comes with an equally iconic bamboo shaped bottle. Bergamot is one of my favorite scents and I like that this scent is anchored by the base note of sandalwood. It sounds like it would be a feminine, yet sexy scent. I am definitely going to track this one down and test it out.

Find Gucci Bamboo via this link on sale for a limited time:

And I am going to finish this post by leaving you with this brand new picture released today of Gal with some of her co-stars (including Robin Wright) in a promo picture from the Wonder Woman film. Those costumes look fierce!

Queen Victoria’s Sapphire Coronet Tiara

In January of 2012, a beautiful sapphire and diamond tiara once belonging to Queen Victoria turned up in a private home in Highgate, UK.

To uncover the secrets of this mystery tiara and to understand how it came to be in possession of a private family rather than the royal family one must go back over 170 years to when the tiara was first created to trace its fascinating history.

Portrait of the young Queen Victoria (1819 - 1901), Franz Xavier Winterhalter, After

Franz Xavier Winterhalter’s portrait of Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, the Prince Consort, was known for his keen eye for architecture, design, and art. He was instrumental in creating many of Victoria’s most beloved pieces of jewelry including this tiara which Victoria described as a “sapphire coronet” in her records most likely commissioned by Albert from jeweler Joseph Kitching circa 1840-1842 at the cost of approximately 450 pounds. It is a small piece in keeping with Victoria’s style and could be worn in a nontraditional way surrounding her chignon on the back of her head as one can see in the famous portrait above by Franz Xavier Winterhalter. The tiara features cushion cut and kite-shaped sapphires set in gold while the diamonds are set in silver in a neo-Gothic trefoil pattern typical of its time. The small structure suited Victoria because she was a very petite woman at only 5’0″ tall. Albert was also undoubtedly aware of Victoria’s issues with migraine headaches which meant that she preferred wearing lighter tiaras in order to avoid triggering a migraine.

Queen Victoria’s Engagement Ring

Victoria was a very romantic and sentimental woman. Albert himself was also a hopeless romantic and he designed many pieces of jewelry for Victoria that held symbolic meaning, including jewelry made of their children’s baby teeth. Victoria’s famous engagement ring was a serpent, an ancient symbol of protection. A serpent or dragon eating its own tail-known as a ouroboros – or depicted in a circular pattern as with Victoria’s ring is also a symbol of eternity. This ring features Victoria’s birthstone, an emerald, as the centerpiece and rubies for the serpent’s eyes. Albert often designed jewelry with rubies to symbolize passion and diamonds to symbolize eternity, since diamonds are the hardest stone and therefore nearly impossible to break. Turquoise and pearls were seen as representing romantic love so they were often used in weddings. Victoria gave each of her bridesmaids a gift of a turquoise eagle brooch seen below.

Royal Bridesmaids Brooch

Brooch, 1847

But for Victoria’s wedding gift, Albert gave her a magnificent sapphire brooch surrounded by diamonds that is reminiscent of the style of Diana, Princess of Wales’ engagement ring which now belongs to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Queen Elizabeth II wears this brooch often. Queen Victoria is Queen Elizabeth’s great-great-grandmother so I am certain that this wedding brooch holds a great deal of significance to her.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Ascot in 2015 wearing Victoria’s wedding brooch

Victoria proudly wore her brand new brooch on her wedding day to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on February 10, 1840 as you can see in the portrait above. I personally believe that Albert created the sapphire tiara to match the brooch that he gave his new bride.

After Prince Albert’s death on December 14th, 1861, Victoria went into mourning for the rest of her life. Therefore, she often did not feel that it was appropriate to wear ostentatious jewelry or bright colors. But this diminutive sapphire coronet was deemed appropriate for Victoria to wear in later life due to its small size.

Queen Victoria with her sapphire tiara

After Victoria’s death in January 1901, the sapphire tiara was not seen for two decades as Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary preferred to wear more substantial pieces. It was next seen in 1922 when the tiara was given to Princess Mary-daughter of King George V and Queen Mary-as a wedding present along with a matching parure comprised of a bracelet and necklace. Princess Mary married Viscount Lascelles, who would eventually inherit the earldom of Harewood making Princess Mary the Countess of Harewood.

Princess Mary, the Countess of Harewood, on left, wearing Queen Victoria’s sapphire coronet tiara circa 1960s. Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, is pictured on her right.

Princess Mary died in 1965, leaving Victoria’s tiara to her husband and children. Subsequently, the tiara was worn by Patricia Lascelles, the Earl of Harewood’s second wife.

Patricia Lascelles, Countess of Harewood, circa 1970

The last time that the tiara was pictured being worn on a member of the Lascelles family was in 1992 when Andrea Lascelles married the Earl’s fourth son, Mark.

The tiara was seen in public in 1997 after Geoffrey Munn wrote to the Earl of Harewood telling him he was putting a collection together for an exhibition at Wartski’s. The tiara was again exhibited in 2002 at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

George Lascelles died in 2011, making his son David the current Earl of Harewood. Since 2002 the fate of the sapphire tiara and matching parure has been convoluted. It is possible that the necklace and bracelet were sold decades ago; however, the tiara managed to stay in the family. And that brings us to the day in 2012 when an anonymous family in Highgate loaned a tiara previously belonging to Queen Victoria that had not been seen in years to Geoffrey Munn, an expert in jewelry appraisal and history.

Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond tiara, circa 1840

Since its rediscovery in 2012, the Victorian Sapphire Coronet Tiara has been most recently exhibited at the Winter Antiques Show in February of 2014 in New York.  Although I cannot be sure, I believe it may still belong to the Lascelles family unless they discretely sold the tiara along with the matching parure after George Lascelles death in 2011.

This tiara is a beautiful piece albeit it is comparatively small to other pieces created for Victoria by Prince Albert. Its whereabouts in 2016 are somewhat unknown to the general public. However, I feel that if it were at all possible it would be lovely to see this piece purchased by the Prince of Wales, who much like Prince Albert has a well known interest in jewelry and an appreciation for design. It would be fantastic to see this tiara reunited with Queen Victoria’s wedding brooch that Her Majesty is so fond of or perhaps it could be worn by the Duchess of Cambridge since it matches her engagement ring so well. But no matter what, I feel that the most appropriate thing is for this tiara to continue to be worn by direct descendants of Queen Victoria or their spouses. Considering how much this tiara meant to her I am sure that is what Victoria would have wanted and I hope that whomever owns this tiara now treats it like the priceless piece of history that it is.

Kate’s Royal Tour of India and Bhutan Fashion Predictions and Suggestions

Hello ladies! I know what you’re thinking, “long time no see” right? As I mentioned in my last post, my laptop broke and I was MIA for a while. But now I have a brand new laptop and I am getting all situated setting up my blog and picture files on the new one, so I think I am officially back in business now. Yay!

Anyway, for my first blog back on the scene after what I like to call “the laptop crisis of 2016” I have decided to do something I have never done before. This post is dedicated to predictions and suggestions for what Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge may wear for her highly anticipated royal tour of India and Bhutan in April.

So without further ado, here is my take on what we may see Kate wear during the tour based on what she normally wears and her favorite designers. I also make some suggestions for what I would like to see Kate wear that might help change her public image a bit considering the ongoing scrutiny and controversy that has been surrounding the Cambridges in the press over the past month or so.

Business Casual/Professional

The exact schedule for what Kate and William will be doing on their tour has not been released just yet. So far the palace has only given us this press release. But I am assuming that there will be occasions where it will be necessary for Kate to wear business casual or professional clothing. In the past Kate has struggled with this dress code a bit, like when she wore a cocktail dress, clutch bag, and pumps to visit a women’s prison last year. Commentators remarked that she was overdressed for the visit. They made similar remarks when she wore a lace Dolce and Gabbana cocktail dress to visit a museum early in the morning with the president and first lady of China. So I think it would be great if Kate could get some simple blazers to wear for more professional meetings and events that she might go to during the tour.

Maybe something like this tweed blazer by L.K. Bennett? Bennett is one of Kate’s favorite brands.

See it here:

Or maybe this simple white blazer by Michael Kors.

See it here:

I also think that Kate would look good in the type of peasant blouse that Queen Rania likes to wear with a skirt or trousers during working engagements. I like the pink/peachy color of this one by Vince Camuto.

See it here:

But what I would really, really love to see Kate wear is a great pant suit or skirt suit. Something like this short sleeve blouse by Reiss, another Kate favorite.

See it here:

With these Reiss trousers in a light blue/gray that Kate likes.

See it here:

And the matching blazer. A pantsuit like this is very modern and professional. It’s the type of outfit that Kate should wear if she needs to give a speech or attend a meeting.

See it here:

Or maybe something like this Tahari pearl boucle skirt suit? I think Kate would look really pretty in something like this. Although it does look very much like the Chanel skirt suits that Diana would wear after her divorce, so Kate may not want to wear something so similar. I think that she could still get away with it though because other royals like Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg or Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco wear skirt suits like this all the time so it’s not just a Diana thing. Many royal women have worn boucle skirt suits.

See it here:

I also like this purple pantsuit by Tahari. I think the color is a little less harsh than maybe a black suit would be. And depending on how many events they have scheduled in one day Kate may not be able to do too many wardrobe changes and I really prefer it when royal women wear color when they meet children. Children seem to like it better when they meet a princess or queen who is wearing pretty colors.

See it here:

Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Mary of Denmark, and Queen Rania of Jordan all love Prada bags. I think this classic black Prada bag would be a great investment for Kate’s professional wardrobe. She really only wears clutch bags during royal engagements and a lot of fashion and royal bloggers and commentators have said that they wish Kate would wear another style of bag during official engagements. I think something like this is perfect for business casual/professional dress.

See it here:

I really like the structure of this Michael Kors bag for business casual. I like the soft pink color for Spring. I think Michael Kors is a more affordable choice for those of us ladies who may be shopping on a budget.

See it here:

And also this gray Michael Kors bag.

See it here:

But if Kate still wants to wear a clutch, which seems to be her preference, I like this patchwork piece by Michael Kors. Pathwork is very ‘in’ right now, but it’s a neutral color so it isn’t too flashy. Kate is very understated in her choices of bags and shoes.

See it here:

And finally, to complete the professional outfit I am sure Kate will most likely stick to her beloved L.K. Bennett pumps. She has so many simple black pumps they are all starting to look alike, though. I think it would be nice if she bought this pair with a quilted pattern on traditional black patent leather pumps. It adds some unexpected texture to her shoes while still being relatively simple.

Bennett has a new style for Spring/Summer 2016 and I think it’s pretty cool. It’s called the “Rillata” heel and it has a neat cutout pattern. Again, this adds some texture or pattern to what is otherwise a pretty basic pump. I think Kate might like this.

I think my favorite is this version in black and white. It would go with everything.

Taj Mahal

There is one portion of the royal tour that has been confirmed by Kensington Palace. William and Kate will definitely be going to the Taj Mahal where they are certain to take a picture in front of the iconic building. Lots of presidents, prime ministers, celebrities, and foreign dignitaries have visited the Taj Mahal. In fact, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited before she married Prince Daniel.

But the press are undoubtedly going to compare William and Kate to Diana’s visit from 1992. She was there with Prince Charles, but they were so terribly unhappy in their marriage that they were attending separate engagements throughout the tour.

The Taj Mahal is universally acknowledged as a monument to love. It is a mausoleum that was commissioned in 1632 by emperor Shah Jahan to be built for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Originally there was to be a second Taj built across from the Taj Mahal that was supposed to be exactly, perfectly alike to the Taj Mahal that is seen today and that is where Shah Jahan wanted to be buried so that he would always be across from his wife for all of eternity. But the second Taj was never built because Shah Jahan’s son wouldn’t allow it so when Shah Jahan died his son just had him buried in the Taj Mahal next to Mumtaz. It’s actually a really fascinating story.

By posing in front of the greatest monument to love in the world all by herself without her husband, Diana was making a public statement on the state of her marriage and how lonely she felt.

When Diana was about to pose for this picture, photographers later commented that they didn’t understand why she was wearing a bright red and purple outfit. But Diana did this intentionally so that her clothes would contrast against the light white color of the Taj behind her.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai was probably thinking along the same lines when she wore red for this picture below.

And Oprah wore a really bright orange and green ensemble as well. Presumably for the same reason.

When Kate takes her picture I am hoping that she wears something colorful as well. I think Princess Victoria’s picture turned out really nicely but in general it would probably be a good idea for Kate not to wear white so that she stands out more in the picture. Recently Kate wore a skirt and top by English brand Eponine, a relatively obscure fashion designer who specializes in clothing inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. You can see pictures of Kate in the outfit here. I have checked out other designs on Eponine’s website and I think it is a safe bet that Kate may wear more of their clothing for the tour because it is all so colorful and I think that something by Eponine may be perfect for the picture with the Taj Mahal.

For example, I like how colorful this dress is. It’s nice and bright like colors you would see in a Bollywood film and I think it would contrast well against the Taj Mahal.

Eponine SS16 Collection-1005.jpg

And this red dress looks like Kate’s style.

Eponine SS16 Collection-1002.jpg

If you would like to see more of Eponine’s clothing visit their website here.

And now here is the REALLY fun part to write about. 🙂 I am not sure if Kate is going to a gala while she is in India, but if she is these are some of the jewels and gowns that I would love to see her wear.

First comes Kate’s wedding tiara: the Cartier Halo tiara. I would like to see her wear this again but if she does I think it would be nice for her to wear the earrings that her mom and dad bought for her as a wedding present. The swirly part of the earrings were made to look like the tiara but the acorns were incorporated into the design because they match Kate’s coat of arms. You can see an explanation of why acorns are used in her coat of arms here.

Here is the Cartier tiara. Simple and delicate. Princess Margaret used to wear it.

And the earrings which I do not believe she has worn since her wedding day.

Since I am imagining her going to a gala in India (there could be a dinner in Bhutan, too) I think it is very possible that Kate would try and incorporate Indian culture into the dress she would wear for the dinner. For example, when Kate attended the Chinese State Banquet at Buckingham Palace she wore red because red is culturally significant to China. Similarly, Diana wore a dress designed to look like a sari when she was in Thailand which you can see here.

So I’m thinking that maybe Kate could wear the Cartier Halo tiara with her matching earrings with something like this Oscar de la Renta gown that was “designed in close collaboration with Indian artisans” and is inspired by the structure of a kaftan.

See it here:
The Oscar de la Renta gown has beautiful silver metallic embroidery that would look great with the tiara, earrings, and these sparkly Jimmy Choo pointed toe pumps and matching Jimmy Choo clutch.
Here are the shoes:
And here is the clutch:
Oscar de la Renta also makes a similar gown in yellow. Kate doesn’t wear this color often but she once wore a yellow cocktail dress on her tour of Australia and I think she looked really pretty in the color.

For Kate’s first state banquet (for the president of China) she wore the Lotus Flower tiara. The tiara was worn by Queen Elizabeth II’s mother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. She used to wear it across her forehead in a bandeau style back in the 1920s or 30s (picture on right) but it can also be adjusted to be worn in a more traditional way. You can look closely at this picture of Kate and see that they added brown padding to match her hair on the bottom of the tiara so that it sits properly on her head. She is most definitely going to use this tiara again and like her wedding tiara, this piece was also worn by Princess Margaret when she was young.

Now, when Princess Diana first married into the royal family she was given an amazing emerald suite by Prince Charles who has famously good taste in jewelry. Check out this article on the jewelry he has given Camilla and you will see what I mean. In this next imagined outfit I am putting together I would love to see Kate wear the Lotus Flower tiara plus Diana’s emerald earrings and matching choker. But the problem is I am not quite sure what happened to the emeralds after Diana’s death because I am reading conflicting information from different sources. According to her will, Diana wanted William and Harry’s future wives to inherit her jewelry but unfortunately some people sold her belongings after her death and hid portions of her will and other nasty drama so I don’t really know where these emeralds are.

But if there was a way for Kate to wear the Lotus Flower tiara and Diana’s emerald choker and earrings I think it would look awesome with something like this green gown by Elie Saab, who is a royal favorite with people like Queen Rania of Jordan and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie. I like the fact that it has one shoulder because it reminds me of the style of a sari. Kate has the height to pull this off really nicely.

See it here:

If Kate is going to attend a gala dinner or banquet in India another great tiara option would be the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara. It was most famously worn by Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth II during the early years of her reign, and then passed down to Diana on her wedding day (although Diana decided to wear the Spencer tiara for her wedding instead, she often wore this piece throughout her time as Princess of Wales and it is very closely associated with her).

I don’t think Queen Elizabeth liked it very much because she didn’t wear it often. Diana once complained to a friend that the way the pearls move when she moved her head bothered here so maybe that’s why.

Kate has only worn this tiara once but she was in the back of a car and this is the best photo we have of the event. Considering that Kate is the Duchess of Cambridge I think that it would be very appropriate for her to wear the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara again.

And if she did I would love to see her wear it with a dress like this strapless gown by Carolina Herrera. I think it’s a real princess-y gown and looks like something that Audrey Hepburn used to wear. Kate loves this shade of blue so I bet she would love this gown.

See it here:

Since the gown has black beading and embroidery I would probably pair it with these black Louboutins called “So Kate.” I’m thinking that maybe they named these pumps after Kate because they are precisely her style. 😉

See them here:

And a nice black clutch would work well. I like this one by Gucci because it has a little extra “bling” and I think the suede is pretty.

See it here:

Keeping in mind that Kate has her famous sapphire engagement ring I would love to see her wear the King George VI Victorian Sapphire Tiara Suite. I don’t think that is very likely because the Queen has never let anyone else borrow this suite (that I know of), but then again she hasn’t been seen wearing it in quite some time so it could happen. The suite comprised of earrings, necklace, bracelet, and a pendent that can be worn as a brooch was given to the queen by her mother and father when she was still a princess as a wedding gift when she married Prince Phillip in 1947 and then the Queen had the matching tiara commissioned in 1963. This is pretty rare because Her Majesty is famously frugal when it comes to jewelry and hardly ever buys anything for herself. I suspect that the suite holds sentimental value to her since it was given to her by her beloved father before his death and she decided she wanted a matching tiara.

If Kate could wear the sapphire suite I would probably make it the center of attention and opt for a more understated gown so that the large jewels can really stand out. I like this dress by Monique Lhullier who always makes very pretty, elegant dresses.

See it here:
Kate has often worn Alexander McQueen and even had Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen design her wedding gown so maybe she could wear a McQueen clutch. This one is a true work of art (and also really expensive, but she’s a princess and she can wear it more than once, right? 🙂 ).
See it here:
Dolce and Gabbana?
Like I said before, the complete schedule for William and Kate’s tour of India and Bhutan has not been revealed yet so I am not sure what kinds of clothes Kate will need. But based on the fact that Kate has been wearing more Dolce and Gabbana over the past year I could see her wearing some of these pieces if not on the royal tour than maybe for other events in the future this Spring.
I think this dress is particularly ladylike. I like the poppies and daisies.
See it here:
I would probably wear these D and G yellow pumps to match the yellow bits in the daisies.
Find them here:
In the past when Kate has been seen wearing D and G she mostly wears their lace dresses. Dolce and Gabbana have made some pretty lace dresses this season in white. I like this one and can imagine Kate buying this for sure.
Find it here:
There is also this one. I bet you guys that she has purchased this dress already, it has Kate written all over it.
See it here:
And for those who say that they wish Kate would wear something besides a clutch, D and G has made some gorgeous bags this season. They have a citrus-y theme going on right now. You can seem lemons on this embroidered “lunch box” bag that can also be worn with a crossbody strap. I really like it. But the only problem is that I just noticed that is has snakeskin on the handle and strap. Kate just got a lot of bad press for wearing possum fur gloves on her vacation to the French alps so I am not sure if she would want to wear snakeskin. (Sidenote: possum fur gloves? I never even knew there was such a thing. Go figure.)
See it here:
I also think that this colorful D and G bag would look really nice with one of the white lace dresses. I think it’s fun.
See it here:
One last piece by Dolce and Gabbana is this pretty green dress with a feminine daisy pattern. It’s appropriately modest but still bright with some flowers for Spring. I could see Kate wearing this.
Find it here:
There is one part of the official press release by Kensington Palace that says that William and Kate will see “Indian efforts to relieve urban poverty”. The press interpreted this to mean that Will and Kate will visit the ‘slums’ of Mumbai with some media going so far as to say that they will see the same places that were featured in the movie “Slumdog Millionaire.”
I don’t really have any fashion suggestions for this part of the tour. I think the most important thing is that Kate (and William) dress down in simple clothes. Nothing too designer, nothing too fancy. And that they show the people they meet respect and sincere interest and empathy. They don’t want to be overdressed because they will risk looking pretentious, but they also want to be down to earth and personable without being patronizing. Here are some royal ladies who have done that really well.
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway
Diana, Princess of Wales. This was around the time in the 90s when she was doing a lot with the Red Cross’s Anti-Landmine Campaign.
And Prince Harry, too. He is very much his mother’s son.
And here is Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden when she went to India. She visited a project supported by Swedish aid agency, SIDA. Victoria always lights up around children and is very sweet.
William and Kate just need to show the world that they really care. I hope that they do well on this tour and that they can stifle some of the negative press attention that they have been getting this past month. With the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations quickly approaching it doesn’t seem fair that the press has decided to focus on bad PR regarding William and Kate instead of focusing on the Queen’s milestone birthday. Watch this space as I will be blogging throughout the royal tour to see if any of my predictions were correct.
And thank you to everyone following My Frugal Lady on Facebook! ❤

Annick Goutal Perfume for Spring 2016

I am a bit of a perfume junkie, and I love nothing more than to research the various perfume houses of my favorite royal ladies. In my opinion, Annick Goutal makes some of the very best perfumes in the world and Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece agrees as she proclaimed in a magazine interview that she loves their scents. Princess Diana is rumored to have experimented with their perfumes as well. Their scents are worn by countless movie stars and celebrities. However, Annick Goutal perfumes are harder to find, meaning that their scents are not overexposed and are still unique. When I was in college I knew quite a few girls who all wore the same scent and I think it is nice to find something unique to become your signature scent so that it feels more special. I think most women want to wear something a bit different and extraordinary.  Annick Goutal specializes in niche perfumes. But unlike some other high profile brands, their scents are not too heavy or overpowering.

I was very happy indeed to see that Annick Goutal has created a brand new scent for Spring 2016. It’s called “Rose Pompon” and it is getting great reviews. It comes in their iconic perfume bottle but this version is a pretty pink color in keeping with the theme of one of it’s main notes: rose centifolia. The scent also includes notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and pink pepper. It’s perfect for Spring and oh so French. Annick Goutal has recently created a Youtube channel that showcases some neat videos when they introduce a brand new scent. Here is the explanation for “Rose Pompon” by Annick’s daughter, Camille who took over her mother’s business when she passed away. There are subtitles in English.

There are only five Annick Goutal boutiques in the world. Two in New York, one in London, one in Paris, and one in Tokyo. But you can find Rose Pompon here via Neiman Marcus’ website.

If you have never experienced Annick Goutal perfume before I would also highly recommend that you try one of their most famous scents: Eau D’Hadrien.

Eau D’Hadrien is an iconic scent that comes in a perfume and cologne and is worn by so many celebrities it has to be one of Hollywood’s favorite fragrances. Famous public figures who wear this scent include Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah, Celine Dion, and Steven Spielberg. Famous royals who are rumored to wear this scent include Prince Charles and Queen Noor of Jordan. In one of the videos that Camille speaks in on the official Youtube channel for Annick Goutal she describes how her mother, Annick would speak to Arabian princesses about perfume so this perfumery has been favored by royalty since its inception. You can find Eau D’Hadrien here.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am feeling so ready for warm weather to arrive and a nice fresh fragrance would be a great way to begin the Spring season.

P.S. My laptop recently broke, which is a big bummer for a blogger. 😦 But I am hoping to get a replacement soon and am working on some longer blog posts for shoes for Spring and makeup trends so don’t forget to ‘like’ My Frugal Lady on Facebook for updates when a new blog post is published and I will get those finished ASAP!

Audrey Hepburn’s Spring Perfume

For my birthday in December I was lucky enough to get Grace Kelly’s perfume as a birthday gift and I have been in love with it ever since. The perfume is called “Fleurissimo” by Creed and it was commissioned for Grace to wear on her wedding day to Prince Ranier of Monaco. I had been wanting that perfume for a really long time and I have not been disappointed with it. It has quickly become my favorite.

Now that I have Fleurissimo, I have another perfume that I am going to put on the top of my wish list: Audrey Hepburn’s. Her favorite perfume also happens to be by Creed, one of the best perfume houses in the world.

So first and foremost, let me give a brief description of Creed perfumes in general. I have written about perfume a lot on my blog. So many of you will know that I get migraines so I have to be careful about what perfume I wear. As a result, I have an interest in doing research on various perfumes in an effort to find ones that I can wear without triggering a migraine. Creed is a very old, historic perfumery. It was established in the 18th century and was Queen Victoria’s favorite perfume house. Queen Victoria suffered from headaches and migraines herself, so when I learned that she was able to wear Creed perfume comfortably in spite of her headaches I decided that I would try to find one for myself, too. It was at this point that I realized that some of my favorite royal ladies and movie stars wear Creed. First on my list was Grace Kelly and her iconic wedding perfume, Fleurissimo. Here is a picture of Fleurissimo and a link for where you can find it. It is a floral, powdery scent. The main notes that I can smell when I wear it are bergamot and tuberose.

Get it here:

After I got Fleurissimo as a gift, “Spring Flower” by Creed quickly went to the top of my wish list because I had read that it is one of Julia Roberts’ favorite perfumes. But when I did more research, I realized that “Spring Flower” was actually first created to be the signature scent for Audrey Hepburn in the 1980s. That made me want it even more, because as you guys can tell from my reference to “My Fair Lady” in the name of my blog, I am a HUGE Audrey Hepburn fan. Creed first created this scent for Audrey and Audrey alone. They wouldn’t sell it to anyone else out of respect for her. It wasn’t until after she passed away that “Spring Flower” became available to the public in 1996, and since then many Hollywood stars and royal women from throughout Europe have worn the scent. Audrey Hepburn was the epitome of the word “ladylike” after all, so it makes sense that so many famous women would want to emulate her. I have read that besides Julia Roberts, Princess Caroline of Monaco also wears this scent. I think that’s quite interesting considering that she is Princess Grace’s daughter. A love of Creed perfumes must run in the family! Gwyneth Paltrow also loves “Spring Flower” as well as the model, Naomi Campbell.

Spring Flower comes in a gorgeous pink bottle with a little floral bow. For people who love collecting scents this perfume is a must-have simply for the bottle alone, in addition to its historical significance as Audrey Hepburn’s favorite scent. But besides that, the description of the notes in this scent sounds very appealing to me.

Top notes for “Spring Flower” include peach, melon and apple. The middle or ‘heart notes’ are jasmine and rose and the base notes are musk and Creed’s signature ingredient: ambergris. “Fleurissimo” also includes ambergris as well as most of the very best perfumes in the world. This scent is best classified as a fruity-floral perfume. I am so happy to see that Audrey Hepburn wore a perfume with jasmine in it. I absolutely LOVE Jasmine. It’s one of my favorite scents. And it is delightful that this scent includes peach as well. Princess Diana loved peach scents, too. It sounds like such a feminine scent. Here is the beautiful “Spring Flower” and a link for where you can find it.

I decided to write this little post about “Spring Flower” for those of you who are looking for a nice Spring scent for Spring/Summer 2016. But Audrey wore this scent all year long. So maybe you would like to make it your signature scent, too?

Kate’s Christmas Fashion, 2015

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! After spending the day with my family I was curious to see what Kate wore to the annual Christmas day church service at Sandringham. Luckily for me, the Daily Mail identified Kate’s outfit which makes my job a little easier. 😉 Here is Kate at St. Mary Magdalene Church with the rest of the family.

British Royal Christmas 2015

Daily Mail

Kate is wearing a long, forest green (some call it ‘moss green’), belted coat by Sportmax. Sportmax is a luxury brand and their coats run on the expensive side. I cannot find the same exact coat Kate wore because it sold out already (!) but here is a similar double breasted “Maine” coat by Sportmax in a pretty teal-green.

Sportmax teal-green

You can find it here:

However, if you would like to ‘get the look for less’ here are some alternatives. Various shades of green-from forest green to olive- are really popular this season. A good green coat is still neutral enough to wear with many different outfits but it will stand out in the crowd of people wearing black coats. It’s a little different but still elegant.

First, this funnel neck basket weave coat by Ralph Lauren is 45% off. It has knit cuffs and cool little belts to fasten the front. It comes in a light camel color as well as a green shade called “Loden” as you can see in the picture.

Find it here:

Then, this Via Spiga double breasted coat is really affordable-under $100 depending on what size you get with sizes up to a 14- and it also has a neat military style with large gold buttons. It comes in olive and a bunch of other colors like the navy one in this picture.

Find it here:

This Lucky Brand military style wool coat is comfy and casual. It’s currently on sale for $99.99, so it’s a good price, too.

This long wool blend trench coat by Vince Camuto is also really lovely. The picture shows it in a more purple-y wine color but it also comes in an olive color that looks really similar to the one Kate wore on Christmas day. Plus, it is also on sale.

I also found this fabulous belted, double breasted coat by DKNY on clearance for $120. It’s a lovely piece.

But if Money Were No Object…

Then this is the dream coat I would buy. A Burberry macrame lace trench coat in deep bottle green. Sigh…..

See it in all its glory here:

Any royal watcher will know that Kates LOVES a good pair of boots. She usually opts for Stuart Weitzman but the Daily Mail identified Kate’s boots as Aquatalia boots. Much like her Sportmax coat, they are a luxury brand. Here is a better picture of her boots from yesterday morning.

Kate Christmas 2015 full picture

From looking at the picture I think Kate is wearing the “Raine” weatherproof boots which would make sense considering that it was raining on Christmas morning and at one point it looked like Kate was walking through wet grass. I found a pair on sale for 33% off. 🙂 Yay!

Get them here:

Or, if you would like a lookalike pair of boots without spending the cash, I would really recommend Nine West. I have always loved their shoes and I think they make really sturdy boots. I always love a good knee high boot for the fall/winter since they work well with a cute dress or coat but cover more of your leg than pumps or ankle boots do. When you wear them with black tights (as Kate does) it keeps you a little more covered if you are walking in the cold. These particular boots are in a classic style so you will be able to wear them for a few years which I think is important. It’s ok to buy earrings or a blouse in a more trendy style but coats and boots should be more classic so that you can wear them for more than one year. At least, that’s my philosophy. If I can wear a coat or pair of shoes for at least three years I feel like I really got my money’s worth. Kate has been wearing the same style of knee high boot since she was a student at St. Andrews. I think that was at least ten years ago. So if you by a good pair of knee high boots you know they are not going out of style by next year and they would look dated. The same thing can be said for a good pea coat or trench coat, it’s classic. These Nine West boots come in brown and black and the heel is a bit shorter.

As I mentioned before, Kate is usually a fan of Stuart Weitzman boots. This is her favorite pair which also happens to be one of Angelina Jolie’s favorites. It’s called the “Reserve” boot.

These pairs of Nine West boots looks sooo much like Kate’s Stuart Weitzman boots. They are practically identical but the Nine West boots are a fraction of the price. Check it out!

Finally, I’d like to write about the pretty brooch Kate wore yesterday because I believe it was the first time she wore it (I could be mistaken so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). I am a big believer in brooches, you guys. ESPECIALLY during the winter time. I love the way a sparkly brooch looks on a coat or pinned to a scarf. I think they are lovely. Kate’s pretty brooch is actually an oak leaf and upon closer inspection you can see little acorns on it. This is special because the Middleton coat of arms that was made for Kate before her wedding day had acorns and an oak tree incorporated into it. Kate’s parents even gave her acorn earrings to wear on her wedding day because of how symbolically significant they are to her and her family. Here is a picture of Kate’s brooch on Christmas day, 2015:

And her wedding earrings:

If you would like to have a pretty, sparkly brooch to decorate your new forest green coat I would recommend something like this crystal brooch. So pretty!

Or maybe something like this?

Kate was also wearing a favorite pair of Kiki McDonough earrings. If you would like to learn more about that, I wrote an entire post dedicated to her McDonough earring collection that you can read here:

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Kate’s Favorite Kiki McDonough Jewelry

The Duchess of Cambridge’s love of Kiki McDonough jewelry has been widely reported and I can see why. This brand exemplifies Kate’s style: simple, elegant, classic yet modern. Here are some of Kate’s favorite earrings from the brand and where to find them in case you are thinking of treating yourself to some bling. 🙂

First, the “Grace” white topaz and diamond stud earrings in 18k yellow gold are one of Kate’s favorite pairs of earrings and she has been seen wearing them at multiple official events. Here she is wearing her “Grace” earrings in Australia with baby George:

And again in 2011:

And on many other occasions. She seems to really love them! So here are the Grace earrings in the same exact style as Kate wears.

Find them here at Neiman Marcus:

Or, if you want to try something a little different, the “Grace” earrings also come in lemon quartz and diamonds.

Or citrine:

Citrine happens to be one of the duchess’s favorite stones. She has a couple of pairs of McDonough citrine earrings that she wears all of the time. The first pair are from the “Eternal” line and are citrine pear-drop earrings in 18k gold. Here she is wearing them at Investec Derby Festival in 2011.

And on baby George’s christening day.

I have most recently seen Kate wearing this pair on a visit to the Towers Residential Outdoor Education Centre on November 20th, 2015.

Here is a close-up picture of the “Eternal” earrings in Kate’s favorite citrine stone.

You can find them here:

But they also come in blue topaz which I really like as a December baby since blue topaz is the birth stone for the month of December.

Find them here:

And a second pair of citrine earrings that Kate loves also comes from the “Eternal” collection but has a tear-drop style with diamonds for extra sparkle. Here is a picture of Kate wearing them at the Cheltenham Racecourse in March of 2013.

And here is a picture of her earrings:

But the cool thing about these earrings is that the charms (in this case citrines) can be removed interchangeably with other stones. The collection has lots of different options to choose from and you just change the drop charm depending on what color you want to wear to coordinate with your outfit. You can collect all of the different colors available. I have seen Kate wear citrine and green amethyst but she may have more colors we just haven’t gotten a good picture of yet since her hair often covers her ears making it difficult to see her earrings. Here are some other colors!

And finally, I am going to finish this post with a pair of earrings that Kate is reported to have received as a Christmas gift from her husband, Prince William, in 2011 during her first Chirstmas celebration at Sandringham as a member of the royal family. The earrings are green amethyst diamond drop earrings in 18k gold from Kiki McDonough’s “Classics” collection. Here is a picture of Kate wearing them to morning church service at her first royal Christmas four years ago.
